Voice of National Day, a Merdeka-themed concert built around the concept of unity in diversity, takes the Arena of Stars stage on Saturday, 29 August 2026 at 6pm. The show arrives two days before Malaysia's National Day on 31 August and brings together five Malaysian artists spanning different eras and directions within the local music scene. Tickets range from RM148 for PS3 to RM448 for VIP, with a 25% early bird discount on VIP through PS2.

The concert is structured as a musical journey inspired by the many experiences that shape Malaysia. Through five themed chapters, Departure, Wandering, Awakening, Homecoming and Legacy, the show reflects moments of leaving, searching, rediscovering and returning, capturing shared emotions that connect Malaysians across backgrounds, languages and generations. It is an ambitious narrative framework for a pop concert, and the choice of five distinct artists gives each chapter a different voice.

The five voices on stage

The line-up brings together Z-Chen, Abin, DannyOne, Amsyar Leee and Boon Yaw, representing different eras and directions within Malaysia's music scene:

  • Z-Chen (张智成) is the renowned Malaysian R&B singer whose signature hits 'May I Love You', '3 in the Morning' (凌晨3点钟) and 'Secret Admirer' (暗恋) have made him one of the most recognisable voices in Mandarin pop music.
  • Abin (方泂镔) is an award-winning singer-songwriter whose emotional ballads 'Bad Guy' (坏人) and 'Regret' (遗憾) have earned widespread acclaim across the Mandopop landscape and numerous industry accolades.
  • Amsyar Leee represents a new generation of Malaysian talent, whose remarkable vocal versatility and viral online performances have rapidly established him as one of the country's most promising young entertainers.
  • DannyOne (温力铭) is a multi-talented singer, songwriter and actor known for blending contemporary pop, hip-hop and distinctly Malaysian influences in his work.
  • Boon Yaw (玟耀) is an independent musician, producer and original music advocate whose contributions to Malaysia's independent music scene have earned recognition both locally and internationally.

What the five-chapter structure means

The Departure, Wandering, Awakening, Homecoming and Legacy framework is not just a marketing device. It gives the concert a narrative arc that mirrors the Malaysian diaspora experience, which is a fitting theme for a National Day show at a venue that draws audiences from across the region. Expect the setlist to move through moods rather than genres, with the Mandarin pop of Z-Chen and Abin giving way to the multilingual, hip-hop-influenced work of DannyOne and the independent sensibilities of Boon Yaw.

The 25% early bird discount applies to VIP through PS2, with discounted prices of RM336 for VIP, RM261 for PS1 and RM186 for PS2. PS3 remains at RM148 with no discount. Each ticket carries a RM4 processing fee, and the standard child rate of RM50 for under-95cm without a seat applies.

Who should go

If you want a Merdeka concert that is genuinely Malaysian in its line-up rather than an imported headliner paying tribute, this is the show. The mix of established Mandarin pop names, a viral younger singer and independent artists makes for a more varied evening than a standard single-artist Arena of Stars gig. The 29 August date also means you can catch the show and still be back in Kuala Lumpur for the National Day parade on 31 August.
